Former The Voice Nigeria contestant Ifunanya Nwangene, 26, has died after being bitten by a snake while she slept in her home, according to multiple news reports.  According to reports, Nwangene, also known professionally as Nanyah, appeared on Season 3 of the Nigerian edition of the competition show, where during her audition she stood out with her powerful rendition of Rihanna’s “Take a Bow”. Nwangene was reportedly bitten by a cobra snake while asleep in her Abuja apartment on Jan. 31, 2026. The bite woke her, and she initially sought treatment at a nearby clinic that did not have antivenom. She was later transferred to a hospital in the city for further care, but despite efforts, including attempts to secure necessary antivenom, she succumbed to complications from the bite and passed away.  Video footage circulating on social media showed two snakes being removed from her home after the incident.  Originally from Enugu, Nwangene was also an architect and performed at weddings, festivals, and events outside her work on The Voice Nigeria. Lil Jon is finally speaking out since the news broke that his 28-year-old son, DJ Young Slade, had gone missing. “The family is asking for privacy at this time,” a representative of Lil Jon’s told TMZ. “We are also asking for continued prayers for Nathan to come home safe. Thank you. ” The up-and-coming artist was last seen in Milton, Georgia, on Tuesday (Feb.3). TMZ reports that Young Slade—real name Nathan Murray Smith—was allegedly last seen fleeing his home on foot around 6 a.m. It was also reported that Smith left with no belongings. Questions have arisen about Smith’s state of mind. According to police reports, Smith was reportedly disoriented and allegedly naked at the time he left. The official missing person alert was made later that day, around 4 p.m. Authorities have stated that Smith poses no threat to the community. The 27th Super Bowl Soulful Celebration will air on BET. Cam Newton is slated to host the special, whose theme this year is “Go Higher.” ​Pastor Mike Jr., Lalah Hathaway, LaRussell, and Miles Minnick are all slated to perform. Other performers include American Idol winner Jamal Roberts, the NFL Players Choir, and award-winning HBCU band the South Carolina State University Marching 101. ​According to Billboard,  the celebration will include segments filmed during Super Bowl week festivities in Los Angeles and San Francisco. ​Melanie Few, founder of the annual event and its executive producer, expressed her gratitude in a statement. ​“This year’s refreshed format allows us to slow down and be more intentional,” Few said. “By creating space for deeper storytelling, intimate performances, and meaningful moments of reflection, we’re able to honor powerful voices.
